INLAND ANDALUSIA, GRANADA PROVINCE

If you want inland Andalusia, the real country life, away from the tourists, but not TOO far (up to an hour from the coast), then this area is for you.  Add to it the city of Granada, the jewel of Andalusia, just a short drive away, and you are in fo ra real dose of Spanish Spain!  We specialise in the "Poniente Granadino" (Western Granada province).

Alhama de Granada (Granada province) is a pretty spa town set on a gorge and surrounded by olive and almond grove countryside, to the backdrop of distant Sierras all around.  In this town and surrounding country and villages there are plenty of old houses to restore, old cortijos and ruins to tempt the adverturous souls looking for a fascinating renovation project, or just some good, solid village houses for a taste of real Spanish village life. 

Nearby is the totally untouched and unspoilt Lake Bermejales, which even has its own beaches (who needs the coast!) and offers plenty of walking or riding country through pinewoods and along rippling rivers and streams.  Nature here is dominant, not tourists!

Granada city is just a short drive away, and Malaga just over 1 hour.  The imposing, snow-covered Sierra Nevada provides a spectacular backdrop and a wonderful nearby ski resort during the Winter.

Prices are still very reasonable in Granada province if you are on a tight budget, but be quick, as they are set to rise, as Granada airport opens up to international traffic and the roads are improved.
