INLAND AXARQUIA, MALAGA PROVINCE

If you are looking for inland unspoilt Andalusia, but not too far from the sea (up to 30 mins) and not too far from the airport (under 1 hour), then this is the area for you.

The 'La Axarquia' region lies between Malaga city (East) and Nerja, extending about twenty miles inland, and we live more or less in the middle of it. The area is beautiful, still very rural and quite diverse too - spectacular mountains, a big lake (Lake Viñuela) and a tropical fruit-growing valley, down to the sea. And there are many interesting, charming & pretty villages & towns set in the valleys and in the foothills of the Sierra de Tejeda mountain range to the North.

This area is becoming more popular and prices are rising, but it is still very Spanish and unspoilt in comparison with the built-up West of Malaga region. For us, there is NO comparison!
